Fans of the NFL are wondering what the Chicago Bears will do with their first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
While the draft is over three months away, it’s not keeping fans from speculating about what will happen on draft day.
One segment of fans see the Bears trading for more draft picks.
This theory makes sense, as the Bears have a quarterback in Justin Fields.
With a rebuild going on in Chicago, trading for additional draft capital is the right move.
However, another theory has the Bears drafting a quarterback with the first overall pick.
If this happens, the team will trade Fields to another team.
While there are plenty of teams who need a quarterback, there is a shocking potential trade partner for Fields.
The most likely trade partner is the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens should trade for Justin Fields.

While people will shoot down this idea, it’s very possible.
The Ravens are in a salary cap crunch.
If they have to franchise tag their current quarterback, Lamar Jackson, it will eat up their 2023 cap space.
However, Fields is still on his rookie contract, leaving the Ravens with plenty of money for 2023 if they get him.
With Jackson still without a deal, the price for tagging him could reach over $45 million.
Big difference in cost of a Lamar Jackson non-exclusive & exclusive franchise tag in 2023. Non-exclusive projects to 14.212% of 2023 salary cap, which should be around $32M. Exclusive, which is subject to change with QB market developments, currently projects to $45.248M.

Even with a low end projection of $32 million, it will hurt the Ravens’ cap for 2023.
With Jackson and Fields being very similar quarterbacks, the move to Baltimore makes sense.
Both have a low average passing yards per game numbers.
However, they both make an enormous impact in the running game.
That’s why the Ravens are the logical, but shocking, trade partner for Fields in 2023.
