Yesterday, after losing two out of three to the Colorado Rockies, the Milwaukee Brewers returned home for a doubleheader against the San Francisco Giants in need of a win to help them regain their footing.
Burnes struck out 14 batters over eight innings of one-run ball.
He also didn’t allow a walk.
With that performance he continued to write his name in Brewers’ history, having posted the second-most strikeouts in a game without a walk.
Sarah Langs of MLB.com tweeted a list of Brewers pitchers who have done that.
Burnes appears on the list three times.
The other Brewers pitchers to appear on that list were Yovani Gallardo and Dave Bush.

Burnes Makes Brewers History
Burnes has put together a solid career thus far.
The Brewers were in desperate need of a win yesterday and they got it thanks to Burnes.
To appear on that list three times is amazing.
It’s impressive enough to just do it once.
He had put together two similar performances to yesterday’s back in 2021.
But Burnes is a strikeout machine and an ace.
He went out and dominated the Giants for eight innings and once again etched his name in Brewers’ history.
With his performance yesterday, Burnes earned his 10th win of the season and lowered his ERA to 2.93.
The Brewers are going to need him if they want to make a final push towards the postseason and try to avert a collapse of epic proportions.
Yesterday’s doubleheader sweep was a good start and Burnes led the way as the Brewers gained a little ground in the Wild Card race.
