The headlines about Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers were not good at the start of the season.
That is because the troubled star was looking and playing like he did last season.
In other words, he wasn’t doing well.
But head coach Darvin Ham and Westbrook obviously had a serious heart-to-heart chat, which led to Westbrook changing things up and coming off the bench.
Since then, the former MVP player has come to life and is looking an awful lot better.

He was once again having an impact on the court Monday night, scoring two back-to-back three-pointers against the Utah Jazz.
Westbrook claimed 22 points and 5 assists for the night.
This was the third straight game in which Westbrook looked good.
So has he really turned a corner and transitioned back to the sort of player he used to be?
At this point, does it even matter with this struggling Lakers team?
The Will Of Westbrook
Since coming off the bench, Westbrook has been scoring double-digits and claiming many more rebounds too.
His shooting percentage from the field has also improved.
There was a point when he was shooting just 26% but he was sinking 57.1% of his shots on Monday.
Westbrook is definitely much better than he has been but the Lakers are still sinking like a heavy stone.
The fans have made their peace with Westbrook and are actually cheering him on again.
He’s gotten a few standing ovations and even chants of “MVP” during recent games.
It’s great to see Westbrook back on track and playing terrifically again but what will it take to help the rest of the team?
That is the big, troubling question hanging over Los Angeles like a dark storm cloud.
