After improving to 2-4 with a Thursday Night Football win, the Washington Commanders received some bad news after the game.
Quarterback, Carson Wentz, suffered a fractured ring finger on his right hand and could miss some time.
#Commanders QB Carson Wentz suffered a fractured finger on his throwing hand in the team’s win over the #Bears, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He’s headed to Los Angeles to see a hand specialist to determine the next step. His availability moving forward is up in the air. pic.twitter.com/jvsiIxHk7A

This is not what the Commanders wanted to hear as they end their four-game losing streak.
But, would replacing an injured Wentz with backup Taylor Heinicke help the team in the long term?
You never want to see anyone get injured but Wentz has not played well this year.
The 29-year-old QB has thrown for 1,489 yards this season along with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Plus, his 36.0 QBR through five games is the lowest of his career.
Commanders coach Ron Rivera, even criticized Wentz indirectly saying,
"Why do you think the teams in the division are farther ahead at this point?"

Now with the possibility Wentz will miss time, Rivera’s team gets to see what their backup QB can do.
Washington is not a good football team.
No matter who is at quarterback, the Commanders do not have a roster that can compete with the rest of their division.
This season was setting up as Wentz’s last chance to be a starting quarterback.
He has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but has shown flashes of good play when healthy.
The Commanders will most likely be in the quarterback market once again after this season.
If Wentz tries to play through the broken finger, it will most definitely affect his ability to throw the ball.
Washington should not rush back onto the field until he is fully healthy.
That would only cause more problems for a team that has not made the playoffs since 2020.
