The Indianapolis Colts are in a tough spot right now.
Carson Wentz is unvaccinated and on the COVID list.
However, the NFL did just recently change its protocols, which could allow Wentz to return Sunday for the game if he is not showing any symptoms.
Sam Ehlinger is set to get the start if Wentz is not available.
But there was another fun option Colts fans were discussing.
The Colts are discussing the possibility of bringing in retired QB Philip Rivers with Carson Wentz now on the COVID list, per @zkeefer
Should the Colts bring back Rivers?

That was calling Philip Rivers and getting him to come out of retirement for one more game.
It turns out Colts head coach Frank Reich spoke with Rivers, but not in any serious way to get him back on the field.
“Yes, I have talked to Philip. You guys know that. I’m close to him,” Reich said, via Pro Football Talk. “We’ve talked all year long. I’ve kind of followed his coaching career, talking about his high school team that he coached. I did talk to him fairly recently and he was on a Christmas vacation with his family. I have talked to him about our situation here, but there’s nothing further to report.”
So it never looks like the Colts or Rivers seriously considered a return.
Riding With Ehlinger
The Colts showed a ton of faith in Ehlinger by choosing him over Jacob Eason to be behind Wentz.
The rookie out of Texas seems to be ready for the moment.
Sam Ehlinger will start his first NFL game on Sunday, assuming Carson Wentz (reserve/COVID list) can't go. His experiences with both @TexasFootball and @Westlake_Nation – on and off the field – prepared him well.

This may be a better and more fair choice than to have Rivers show up and lead the offense.
While he was the starter last year, it would create an odd dynamic once Wentz returns.
And if Rivers showed up, only for Wentz to be activated Sunday, it would all be for nothing.
Ehlinger has been preparing for this moment all season and has the trust of the coaching staff.
Rivers was a fun option, but ultimately not the best one for this team right now.
