Colts Owner Jim Irsay Delivers A Clear Message To Fans

The Indianapolis Colts easily had the worst finish to the NFL regular season of any team.

A loss to the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars eliminated them from postseason contention and raised a ton of questions in the organization that did not exist before Week 18.

Mainly, what is the team going to do with Carson Wentz?

The good vibes in Indy have vanished and owner Jim Irsay decided to release a statement Wednesday.

Perhaps the most intense part of the whole statement is when Irsay says, “We were all hopeful we could dig our way out of the hole and reach the playoffs, and we should have.”

The Colts choked away a playoff berth and Irsay chiming in shows just how shocked and frustrated everyone is within the organization.

Jim Irsay Feels The Need To Address The Fans

Irsay goes on to say he will do what it takes to bring a winning team back to Indianapolis.

That may mean eating some cash and going with a different option at quarterback in 2022.

The entire scenario is so jarring because Wentz was playing well enough to guide the team to the postseason.

Jonathan Taylor had an MVP season out of the backfield and all they needed Wentz to do was just be average.

Jim Irsay says, "One thing that’s clear is changes need to be made. And they will be made."

But he also makes it clear that there won't be change at GM or head coach: “That was never in question. As an owner, I can say I have the utmost faith in Frank and Chris.’’ https://t.co/pOcCT2oBEW

But he could not move the ball against the Jaguars, finishing with 185 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

It was not the performance the team needed and a total of 11 points on offense against the worst team in the NFL tells the story loud and clear.

Irsay taking accountability is a nice change compared to other owners, such as John Mara in New York, who tend to cast blame elsewhere.

Irsay seems set on winning and that should be refreshing for fans.
