Quarantine has given many time to perfect their cooking and baking skills.
And publish their finished products on TikTok and other social media outlets.
The latest quarantine must-make food is cloud bread.
Cloud bread is trending right now evidenced by the uber popular #cloudbread.
There are 2.2 billion TikTok videos about it and over 35,000 Instagram posts.
Easy To Make
One of the reasons cloud bread has become so popular is because it is easy to make.
The basic recipe requires few ingredients so extra trips to the grocery store are not necessary.
Taste of Home shares this recipe:
- 3 egg whites
- 30 grams white sugar (approximately 2-1/2 tablespoons)
- 10 grams corn starch (approximately 1 tablespoon)
Whisk together egg whites in a bowl until frothy, then add sugar and corn starch and whisk until mixture forms peaks. Drop onto a cookie sheet in a dome shape, and bake for about 25 minutes at 300° F.
You can’t beat the ease of this recipe.
There is no rolling or kneading of dough so it’s practically foolproof.
Besides that, it does not contain wheat products so it’s also gluten free.
The bread gets its name because it comes out of the oven looking like a cloud.
When broken open, it has a cotton candy texture.

☁️ CLOUD BREAD 🍞 This is probably the most satisfying thing I’ve ever made (watch til the end) and it was SO EASY! I’ve been seeing it all over TikTok & Instagram so decided to try it out for myself. I also tried to make it look like clouds 😂 Basic cloud bread doesn’t have any added flavor to it, so I decided to put some Asian twists on the classic recipe. For 3 different cloud bread ideas/recipes, search “feed meimei” on YouTube or link in bio to the full video! 📺 Would you try this cloud bread? Lemme know below!👇
The taste of traditional cloud bread is admittedly a little bland so the fun starts with all the cloud bread variations.
While food coloring is usually added for appearance, it is the other extras that add the taste.
Boost the flavor with 1/2 tablespoon of vanilla extract, lemon extract, or even cocoa powder.
It Is Bread
Shape magazine uses the bread to make strawberry shortcake, pizza, and sandwiches to name a few.
It is also noteworthy that Shape’s recipe contains a softened cheese like goat cheese, softened cream cheese, or a blended cottage cheese.
