The San Francisco 49ers have a good problem on their hands right now.
Most teams struggle to find a franchise quarterback, let alone two.
They, however, have three guys with a legit case to be their QB1 next season.
Trey Lance was supposed to be the future of the organization before suffering a season-ending injury, while Jimmy Garoppolo already had a proven record of winning with that team.
Then, Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy broke out of nowhere to lead the team to eight straight wins, with his dream-like start to the season coming to a heartbreaking end after suffering an injury early in the NFC Championship Game.
Purdy made the Niners’ offense look better than with both Lance and Jimmy G.
And while his physical traits may not be impressive, he earned his teammates’ trust and praise with his great play.
In fact, star RB Christian McCaffrey admitted that he didn’t trust Purdy to get the job done at first, praising him for proving him wrong in no time:
“I’ve played with a lot of quarterbacks in six years, and what he did – I didn’t think could be done by a rookie quarterback, and he proved me wrong,” McCaffrey said.

Purdy is still evaluating his elbow injury to determine whether he’ll need surgery.
But even if he does, there’s a chance he might be back just in time for training camp.
So, what will the Niners do?
Will they go with the injury-prone young QB who’s still raw, even if it costs them a chance to win next season?
Will they go with Mr. Irrelevant, trusting he continues his impressive run despite his seemingly low ceiling?
Or will they run it back with the veteran QB who’s nothing more than a game-manager?
We’ll have to wait and see.
