The dust has finally settled regarding Chris Paul’s final destination after being traded by the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards and was flipped to the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft this week.
After landing with the Wizards in the deal that sent Bradley Beal to the Suns, the consensus was that Washington would either reroute Paul elsewhere or buy out his contract to make him a free agent.
All signs pointed to Paul being rerouted to the Los Angeles Clippers or becoming a free agent and signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, but that obviously didn’t happen, and he will now suit up in the Bay Area to play alongside superstar Stephen Curry.
Now that Paul knows he’s been dealt to San Francisco, the veteran point guard was asked about landing with the team that was once his bitter rival during his time with the Clippers, according to Scott Flower via Hoop Central.

The Warriors weren’t even mentioned as a potential trade destination when it became known that the Suns would part ways with him one way or another this month.
Golden State was thought to be concentrating on keeping Draymond Green in the Bay Area and possibly considering trading Jordan Poole, but no one expected them to make this move and bring in a point guard in the twilight of his career.
Although Paul is still a very talented player, he isn’t reliable due to his injury issues over the years and plays at a different pace compared to what the Warriors do.
However, things could change for Paul moving forward, as he may know this is his last chance to compete for a title and will adjust to the style of play in San Francisco.
