Over the better part of the last decade, the Golden State Warriors have been the driving force in the NBA.
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, and Steve Kerr have made it to the Finals six times in eight years, winning four championships in that span.
But shortly before Kerr took over, they weren’t exactly the most dominant squad in the Association.
As a matter of fact, the Dubs were mostly a lock to be a first-round exit, especially given Curry’s ankle issues.
Notably, 2014 could’ve been a turning point for that.
The Warriors squared off with the third-seeded Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, and they even took them to seven games.
In the end, however, Chris Paul and the Lob City Clippers lived up to their status as favorites and sent the Warriors back to Oakland empty-handed.
Nonetheless, it seems like that wasn’t much of a make-or-break series for CP3.
Apparently, he couldn’t understand the reference once Curry took him to school and told him, “This ain’t 2014 no more,” when the Phoenix Suns faced off against the Warriors on Monday night.

It’s evident that Steph has kept receipts from that day on, but it just wasn’t that big a deal for Paul.
Notably, this isn’t the first time that Steph manhandled Paul on the basketball court.
He put him on skates and broke his ankles in perhaps the most embarrassing clip of his career, so it seems like those matchups have always been personal for Steph.
