The San Antonio Spurs will get their hands on another generational big man just one month from now.
Winning the 2023 NBA Draft lottery put them in a prime position to get Victor Wembanyama, arguably the most hyped prospect in the history of the league.
The expectations are so high about Wembanyama that people and scouts expect him to be in the GOAT conversation once it’s all said and done, something that hasn’t happened since LeBron James entered the league back in 2003.
As a matter of fact, the expectations are so high that Chris Broussard recently stated that him being as good as Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, or Hakeem Olajuwon would be a disappointment.
.@Chris_Broussard: If Wemby is AD, KD or Hakeem, that's a disappointment. I expect him to be one of the best players ever — to have a career like LeBron, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq or Kareem.@getnickwright: Then the expectations are too high. The Spurs should go after the title now. pic.twitter.com/ARKUozIkOu

Per Broussard, the only acceptable thing for Wembanyama would be to be as good as LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Those are definitely some big shoes to fill, but there’s no reason to think he couldn’t be able to pull it off.
Wembanyama has a skill set that we have never seen.
Never has a player so big had his combination of handles, playmaking, shooting, and rim protection.
He’s also been touted to be a No .1 scoring option on a professional team in Europe, so he has plenty of experience entering the league.
On top of that, he’ll get to play for one of the greatest coaches in NBA history right away, and one that knows a thing or two about bringing the most out of generational bigs.
