Travis Kelce was trending on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, so Kansas City Chiefs fans were instantly worried something bad had happened.
Was there an injury at training camp?
Did he get in some sort of trouble?
No, it was much worse.
He shaved his face.

Not sure if TE1 anymore 🤣 pic.twitter.com/Tur1pdyTzY

Who is that man on the left?
The best part about the above comparison is he is making such a similar pose in both pictures.
Yet the man on the left looks like a stranger.
A Hilarious Reason To Trend
Twitter let out a collective gasp upon seeing Kelce’s new look.

Travis Kelce is a good reminder/cautionary tale to never, ever shave your beard.

This situation draws up memories to when Justin Herbert cut his hair last year and caused mass pandemonium in the city of Los Angeles and around the NFL.
The good news here?
Kelce is a grown man and his hair will grow back in due time.
But he has clearly lost a ton of his appeal for his looks, according to the reaction on social media.
This type of news trending is exactly what Twitter is supposed to be about.
About a decade ago, Twitter was full of silliness and lacked the seriousness and doom it does today.
Kelce shaving his face is a vintage Twitter trend and we are here for it.
Actual Football Focus
Kelce is in an interesting spot with the Chiefs.
He signed an extension last year, but his dead cap value drops to $5.6 million in 2022.
The tight end turns 32 years old in October and the Chiefs may have to start shedding salary in the near future.
While releasing Kelce would be a shocking blow to the fanbase, he is in fact getting older and the Chiefs have been able to develop young talent at a rapid pace.
The one thing working in his favor is his connection with Patrick Mahomes.
Kelce had a career-high 1,416 receiving yards last year on 145 targets.
If Mahomes keep throwing it to Kelce at that rate, the Chiefs would not cut him loose just to save money.
Leave that task up to the front office members in charge of moving salary around to balance the books.
Kelce looks like a new man, but should still be the same dominant player he has always been.
If he does get off to a slow start, fans will be wondering if the beard carried magical properties all along.
