The Kansas City Chiefs are shockingly 1-2 to start the season and could easily be 0-3.
So should fans be panicking?
Not at all.
The Chiefs will be just fine and the two losses came to top AFC contenders in the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers.
Since Week 1, the Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns, who they defeated, have gone in opposite directions.
The schedule sure helps, but the heightened atmosphere in Week 1 may have meant the loser would leave much more motivated.
The Browns lost, got a wake-up call, and are now 2-1.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, have to get back on track.
All you can do is keep working! 💪🏽⏰

Nothing Extra Needed
It is fair to point out that players on a championship-level team like the Chiefs don’t need any extra motivation.
They should be showing up with the mindset of winning each and every day.
But we are still talking about professional football here, where things like “bulletin board material” continue to thrive.
This team has known for years that they are the best of the best.

The coaching staff reminding them that they actually have competition now may benefit the group in the long run.
Sometimes it helps to get beaten down a bit at the start of the season.
If the Chiefs were 3-0, some key flaws may be masked.
Now everyone can get together and focus on just getting stronger as the season rolls on.
Getting Back On Track
The real barometer for how the Chiefs are will be this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
If, for some reason, the Eagles beat the Chiefs then there will be cause for concern because a primetime matchup against Buffalo is waiting in Week 5.
Yet at no point would it be fair to count the Chiefs out unless they were mathematically eliminated from any postseason contention.
This already strong bunch just added Josh Gordon to the offense and should be able to eclipse their Week 3 total of 24 points this time around against Philly.
Gordon is still on the practice squad for now, but Kansas City should roll over the Eagles the same way the Dallas Cowboys just did.
Anything short of perfection will just be another cause to be more motivated in the Week 5 AFC Championship Game rematch with the Bills.
The Chiefs are a fascinating team because they are so stacked, it never seems like they are in trouble.
Having Mahomes allows for that to happen and fans should get right back to talking about the Super Bowl following Sunday’s game.
