He has only played a few Summer League games so far but people are getting very excited about Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The number two pick in last month’s draft has been a shining star during the Summer League and already seems to be a leader on his Thunder squad.
Fans of the Thunder have been needing reasons to get excited for multiple seasons now.
There have been a few players to come to the Thunder to shake things up recently – will Holmgren be the latest?

It certainly sounds that way.
In Monday night’s Summer League game, the Thunder outscored the Orlando Magic by 15 points when Holmgren was playing.
But then the Thunder were outscored by 12 points during Holmgren’s 13 minutes on the bench.
That sounds like a team leader but is that too much pressure to put on this young man?
Holmgren The Hero
When you look at the performances he’s had, you’d think Holmgren will be the guy who leads his team in the upcoming season.
But it may be premature to put all of that on him.
Even though he’s done very well so far, one must remember that he’s been dominating during Summer League games.
They haven’t been easy games, of course, but they pale in comparison to what awaits him in the regular season.
Playing against opponents in the Summer League is nothing like playing against established All-Stars in the NBA.
Therefore, the Thunder need to improve all over before they’re capable of going far in the postseason.
Holmgren will be a part of that turnaround and success, but just one part.
He has done terrifically but he still has much more to prove.
