When the news about Chet Holmgren came down, it shook all Oklahoma City Thunder fans to their core.
People were fearful that Holmgren was severely injured during last weekend’s pro-am game but few thought he’d be out for the entire season.
But the news today has revealed that the 2022-23 season will be without Holmgren, who stood a chance to be Rookie of the Year.
However, while he will be missed this year, he can still be a terrific player in the future.

In fact, Holmgren isn’t the first rookie to miss his entire debut season due to injury.
He joins a list that also features Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben Simmons of the Brooklyn Nets, and Blake Griffin also of the Nets.
Each of these guys didn’t take to the court in the opening year of their careers because of a physical ailment.
But, as you know, they all came back and had successful careers despite the rough start.
Brightness Ahead
Even the most depressed Thunder fan still believes that Holmgren could end up being one of the greatest players in the league.
However, they are just bummed they have to wait a lot longer to see his true potential.
While it’s bad news that Holmgren got hurt, at least he is receiving terrific care and will get the very best rehabilitation.
So, yes, he could still end up being a runaway hit in the league.
Sadly, this just all means that the Thunder have to sit through yet another year of mediocrity without Holmgren.
Followers of the team were beyond ready to see their team turn things around, with Holmgren leading the way.
That’s just not a possibility right now.
