Two years ago, it looked like the Denver Nuggets could become the next dynasty in the NBA.
They made sure to lock in most of their championship core for years to come.
However, the loss of key players, Jamal Murray’s regression, and Aaron Gordon’s injuries have now hindered their progress, and they are no longer the best team in the league.
That’s why Hall of Famer Charles Barkley urged the team to “get greedy” to make the most of Nikola Jokic’s prime.
Talking on TNT, the legendary power forward called Jokic the best player on Earth, and he doesn’t want to see his prime go to waste (via Legion Hoops):
“You cannot waste this guy’s prime, he’s the best player in the world. Denver needs to get greedy,” he said.

Jokic has looked like the best player in the world this season.
He’s been way more aggressive as a scorer, perhaps because his team needs an offensive punch, and he should be the leading MVP candidate right now.
Through 16 appearances this season, the Serbian superstar has averaged a career-best 30.1 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game on 56% from the floor and 52% from beyond the arc.
He also averages 1.7 steals and 2.3 three-pointers per game.
Moreover, his absence was notorious for this team as well, as they struggled to get anything going on either end of the floor when he was out for undisclosed personal reasons.
The Nuggets need to make some moves.
A player like Jokic doesn’t come around very often, and winning “just” one ring with him will feel like a disservice.
