The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a bad start in the 2022-23 NBA season.
They are 0-2 with losses to the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.
After missing the playoffs last year, this team looks the same if not worse.
LeBron James is not getting any younger as he starts this season at 37 years old.
The rest of the Lakers roster is bad.
They have almost no shooting and the one player that can take this team up a level is Anthony Davis.
That is what NBA Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley sees when he looks at this Lakers team.
“I got to challenge LeBron. He’s got to come after AD… We should not be asking a 38-year old guy to be the best player on his team.”

A Challenge Is Needed
Davis has yet to show he can be the type of player that can carry a team to wins.
While he has had many great statistical seasons, he has never won anything as the top option.
When he played in New Orleans, the Pelicans were a borderline playoff team every year he was there.
In fact, the seven seasons he played with the Pelicans, they only made the playoffs two times.
Davis has struggled to be the top-option on a winning team.
But, that is what the Lakers need him to be.
Barkley alluded to the fact that James should no longer be relied on to carry his team due to his age.
LeBron turns 38 in December and he has become more prone to injuries the older he has gotten.
If the Lakers want any chance of competing for a championship this year, Davis has to play like a top-five player in the NBA.
Injuries has derailed Davis for most of his career, so his health and production will shape the Lakers this season.
