Former MLB pitcher CC Sabathia has taken on a huge role after retiring in 2019.
He is not a coach, a manager, or a scout: he is an ambassador, a person who likes to help others who are going through what he went through.
What did he go through?
During his playing days, Sabathia struggled with alcohol.
He has stated in part interviews he used to drink a lot, and it affected his career, conditioning, and his personal life.
He is now proud to celebrate seven years of sobriety, which sets an important example for those who are having similar issues.
If Sabathia could, you can, too.
“Blessed to celebrate 7 years of sobriety to this day. Seven years ago, I made a decision to improve every aspect of my life. To be a better teammate, father, husband, and friend. Im so thankful to have overcome alcohol dependency and live a healthy life. To many more years,” he wrote via Twitter.

A Serious Issue That Requires Help From Professionals
During an excellent career, Sabathia retired with a brilliant 251–161 record, a 3.74 ERA and 2,093 strikeouts.
He won the 2007 Cy Young award and the 2009 World Series with the New York Yankees, the team with which he is most often associated with.
It’s good to know about Sabathia’s story and use it as an example of will power and determination.
Most importantly, the message is that there is no shame in calling for help, because alcoholism can be a serious condition that requires specialized assistance: doctors, therapists, and a lot of support.
Congratulations to Sabathia on this underrated anniversary, and hopefully he can extend those seven years to many, many more.
