The San Francisco Giants were the first team to make a major free agent signing when the MLB lockout was finally over.
Their move was to sign veteran left-hander Carlos Rodon to a two-year, $44 million deal to bolster their rotation after the departure of Kevin Gausman.
Since joining the Giants, Rodon has proven to be a force of stability in their rotation, going 8-5 with a 2.66 ERA.
Last night against the Milwaukee Brewers, Rodon made a little bit of history when he reached the 131-strikeout milestone for the season.

Rodon Sets Giants Record
MLB Network tweeted about Rodon’s accomplishment, revealing that 131 strikeouts is the most by a Giants pitcher before the All-Star break in their first season with the club.
Rodon has been that steady hand for the Giants in 2022.
Though they still lost last night, he has been the guy that they have been able to turn to when they need somebody to get them a win.
The Giants have struggled a little bit in the first half.
After being relatively close in the NL West, they have fallen to 13 games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers and are currently not in playoff position.
They sit at 45-43, though they are only a game out of the third NL Wild Card.
Rodon has come to San Francisco after a solid season a year ago with the Chicago White Sox.
He’s been a solid replacement for Gausman and is giving the Giants innings when they need them.
He’s also been a strikeout master, as the tweet above shows.
Despite all their struggles, the Giants have been able to count on Rodon to be their ace and stop the bleeding when need be.
