Albert Pujols is returning to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Late last night, the future Hall-of-Famer agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with his old team, and it looks as though Pujols is going to finish his career where it all started.
And thus begins a massive wave of hype surrounding the Cardinals entering the 2022 season.
Pujols is back in town, reuniting with Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright.
The players are pretty excited about welcoming back a Cardinals’ legend too.
Center fielder Harrison Bader took to Instagram this morning, filming a boomerang video on his story of Pujols’ jersey inside the Cards’ clubhouse in Jupiter, Florida.

It’s Go Time In St. Louis
The hype is real now for the Cardinals.
They already had a solid team entering the 2022 season, but Pujols brings a little sentimental value to the club.
It looks like he’ll revert back to his trademark No. 5 as a member of the Cardinals.
No player has worn that number since Pujols departed St. Louis for the Los Angeles Angels after the 2011 season, and chances are good that we won’t ever see another Cardinals player don the iconic No. 5.
Pujols brings a ton of veteran experience and is another veteran voice in the Cardinals clubhouse to go along with Wainwright, Molina, Nolan Arenado, and Paul Goldschmidt.
More veteran leadership is a plus for St. Louis, and Pujols can impart his knowledge on players such as Bader, Tommy Edman, Tyler O’Neill, and Dylan Carlson.
The city of St. Louis is buzzing today and so is the Cardinals clubhouse.
It’s a great day for anyone associated with the Birds on the Bat, for Pujols is back in red and ready to go for one last dance.
