The St. Louis Cardinals were active at the trade deadline this year.
The team acquired veteran starters Jose Quintana and Jordan Montgomery from the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees, respectively.
It was perhaps the biggest deadline splash the Cardinals had made since acquiring John Lackey in 2014.
The veteran starters help fill out a rotation ravaged by injuries and inconsistencies, much like Jon Lester an J.A. Happ did last season.
Katie Woo, the Cardinals beat reporter for The Athletic, has some news on when Quintana will make his first appearance in a Cardinals uniform, revealing on Twitter that he’ll start in their series finale against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night.
Jose Quintana will make his #STLCards on Thursday, Oli Marmol says.

Quintana Set For Cards Debut
Quintana will start against one of his former teams.
He spent the back half of the 2017 season with the Cubs.
He’ll be opposed by Marcus Stroman.
Quintana is 3-5 with a 3.50 ERA on the season.
Acquiring starters such as Quintana and Montgomery was a big step forward for the Cardinals and should help them regain a little traction in their rotation.
Dakota Hudson has struggled this year, and both Jack Flaherty and Steven Matz are out for an extended period of time.
It should also help them take a little bit of pressure off of their bullpen, which has been taxed ever since Flaherty went back on the injured list.
Outside of Miles Mikolas and Adam Wainwright, the rotation has struggled quite a bit for St. Louis.
But the Cards now have a few reinforcements, and one of them will get their first chance to shine in a Cardinals uniform tomorrow night.
Quintana will be making his 21st start of the season on Thursday night.
