With less than a week to go before the start of spring training, the St. Louis Cardinals appear to be in a good position to win the National League Central division for the third time in the last five years.
Signing Willson Contreras helped them boost their already powerful lineup, while also giving them a solid replacement behind the plate for the now retired Yadier Molina.
But speculation on what the Cardinals may do next to improve their team is ever prevalent.
Bleacher Report recently came up with a mock trade between the Cardinals and the Miami Marlins, one that would give St. Louis right-hander Edward Cabrera and the Marlins a healthy dose of prospects, including pitcher Gordon Graceffo, Alec Burleson, and Masyn Winn.
Tyler O’Neill and Paul DeJong are also some names that were thrown around.

This would give the Cardinals the extra starting pitching help they need and boost the Marlins offense, while also addressing their surplus of starting pitchers.
But with Winn and O’Neill included in that potential proposal, it may not be something the Cardinals will want to risk, and it’s understandable as to why.
Graceffo is also somebody they may want to keep around.
Ultimately, it depends on what they would have to give up for something like this to happen.
It may not take O’Neill, Graceffo, and Winn to get it done.
But if it does take that, the Cardinals would then have a need to fill in the outfield with O’Neill gone, and the outfield market is quite picked over.
Still. it’s an interesting concept and one that the Cardinals may explore given their prior interest in Pablo Lopez before he was ultimately dealt to the Minnesota Twins.

No. No. No..giving away the future is no guarantee of securing a victory in the immediate present.
Please look carefully at Lopez stats. Barry said.
Bleacher Report is just a fanzine with no more credibility that the National Enquirer. You damage your own credibility by suggesting this is anything more than another 15 yr old living in its mother’s basement. “Insider”. Lmmfao.
