For now, there’s still no update regarding the contract extension for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
The team’s front office remains quiet about their move despite the pressure put up by their starting play-caller.
The former Oklahoma standout released a statement highlighting the merit of getting his mega extension after three NFL seasons.
Likewise, he declared that he isn’t keen on playing if a deal won’t be done soon.
However, things might be going for the better as Murray attended this pictorial.
Perhaps the two parties have reached an agreement and are working to finalize a deal.
In that case, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury hopes to have it finalized before they pick up their preparation for the 2022 season.
Kliff Kingsbury said in terms of a Kyler Murray contract getting done, “I’m praying before training camp.”
Kliff doesn’t know when the deal will be done. Said he selfishly wants to make sure Murray is at camp day 1. Said it’s a Kyler question what Murray might do without deal.

Cardinals beat writer Darren Urban tweeted, “Kliff Kingsbury said in terms of a Kyler Murray contract getting done, ‘I’m praying before training camp.’ Kliff doesn’t know when the deal will be done. Said he selfishly wants to make sure Murray is at camp on day 1. Said it’s a Kyler question what Murray might do without a deal.”
Kingsbury won’t meddle with front office decisions because his job is to coach whoever the team will field.
Still, he hopes to have his best option at quarterback be available before training camp.
Otherwise, Murray might hold out which could disrupt what could have been a fruitful camp for the Cardinals.
When Will The Deal Happen?
The Cardinals still have time to package a contract if they want this done before camp starts.
It seems like the final price tag will be the only point of contention between the two parties.
That condition can be ironed out but Murray has a ton of leverage during negotiations.
If no deal is finalized, Arizona will still have Murray for the 2023 season via his fifth-year option.
However, that could be his last with the franchise as he tries free agency after.
