The St. Louis Cardinals have signed their former MVP and franchise icon Albert Pujols to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.
Pujols left St. Louis shortly after the Cardinals won the 2011 World Series and signed a 10-year, $240 million contract to join the Los Angeles Angels.
He was released by the Angels and was picked up by the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.
But in St. Louis, it feels to fans as if he never left, and now Pujols can enjoy one final season back where it all started, as he did announce that 2022 would be his final season.
The Cardinals sure are excited to have Pujols back, and they released a perfect hype video late on Monday celebrating his return and welcoming him back to St. Louis.

A Classy Gesture
This is a great gesture by the Cardinals.
It’s no secret fans were shocked and stunned when he departed and that he was sorely missed during his time in Southern California, but Cardinals fans don’t have to miss him anymore.
“El Hombre” is back in Cardinal red.
The video features all of Pujols’ major career highlights in a Cards uniform, as well as some moments from his time with the Angels, namely where he hit his 600th career home run and picked up his 3,000th career hit, which goes to show that St. Louis never stopped loving Pujols.
The video does a great job of getting fans hyped up to see their star again.
Of course, it won’t be the same as when he was originally a Cardinal.
Back then, he was the best player in all of baseball, and is obviously past his prime.
But that won’t matter to Cardinals fans.
They’ll have a chance to see that imposing swing once more and they’ll relish every moment of it.
