Spring training is drawing nearer.
Soon, pitchers and catchers will report to camp as we prepare for the 2023 season.
Still, this doesn’t mean that teams don’t have some holes to fill.
St. Louis Cardinals fans are sick and tired of the lack of activity.
So, one fan decided to take a Twitter break and see if there would be any news upon his return.
However, much to his dismay, nothing has happened.
After Ken Rosenthal’s report that the Cardinals were having preliminary discussions with the Miami Marlins about right-hander Pablo Lopez, fans were hoping for some news.
But that is not the case.
I’ve been off Twitter for two days & the @Cardinals STILL haven’t traded for Pablo Lopez…

Lopez would be a good fit in the Cardinals rotation.
With Adam Wainwright retiring and only Steven Matz under contract for 2024, the starting rotation is in a precarious position.
Lopez has some of the strikeout stuff that the Cardinals have been interested in for some time.
He’s also under contract through 2024.
The Marlins are in a position to potentially trade from their starting pitching depth after the signing of Johnny Cueto.
Still, St. Louis has sat quietly and not done anything to address their obvious need for starting pitching as they look beyond 2023.
Matz and right-hander Jack Flaherty are both coming off of injury-plagued seasons as well, so that could be a reason for St. Louis to add another pitcher.
But one fan taking a Twitter break didn’t help, and for any Cardinals fans who assume a Twitter break will help, you might want to rethink that.
