With the possibility of the World Series coming to an end as soon as tomorrow night, the offseason looms.
For the St. Louis Cardinals, some big upgrades might be needed, particularly at the shortstop position.
The addition of a high-profile shortstop would give St. Louis the opportunity to shift either Tommy Edman or Brendan Donovan to the outfield.
One of many high-profile shortstops available is Xander Bogaerts, who is expected to opt out of his current contract with the Boston Red Sox.
One Cardinals fan on Twitter had a bold prediction, that St. Louis will be the ones to sign Bogaerts this offseason, citing a claim made by Jon Morosi of MLB Network back in May that the Cards would be a perfect fit for Bogaerts.
I’ve now convinced myself that the #STLCards will sign Xander Bogaerts to a 5 year deal this offseason… https://t.co/YexjxDIWr1

Could Bogaerts Be A Target For Cards?
St. Louis would be an interesting fit for somebody like Bogaerts.
The 30-year-old hit .307 with 15 home runs and drove in 73 during the regular season.
The claim made by Morosi back in May came after St. Louis had demoted a struggling Paul DeJong to Triple-A Memphis.
With DeJong seemingly getting lost in the shuffle and the Cardinals in need of an offensive upgrade, Bogaerts could be the guy.
Of course, this is all speculation by one fan and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Nothing is imminent at this point.
But an addition such as this would allow St. Louis to move Edman or Donovan to an outfield spot to get some more production out of the outfield.

I think Turner from the Dodgers would be the better fit he’s use to playing in the National League and I just think he has a better bat
