St. Louis Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak often draws criticism from the fanbase for certain moves or lack thereof.
However, throughout his career at the helm of the Cardinals, sometimes his best moves are the ones he didn’t make.
For example, fans were hoping for a starting pitching addition, which was somewhat addressed with the signing of Andrew Suarez.
Pitchers such as Carlos Rodon, Jose Quintana, Justin Verlander, and Jacob deGrom were available.
Two of those pitchers will begin the 2023 season on the injured list.
On Twitter, a Cardinals fan offered some praise for Mozeliak for being cautious about some of these players.

When St. Louis was in search of starting pitching help at the trade deadline, Mozeliak opted to acquire Quintana and Jordan Montgomery.
Frankie Montas was picked up by the New York Yankees at the deadline, but is going to miss significant time due to a shoulder injury.
Quintana was a free agent and ultimately left St. Louis for the New York Mets.
He is now on the injured list due to a rib issue.
And in regards to the Montgomery trade, St. Louis sent Harrison Bader back to the Bronx Bombers to complete the deal.
Bader is now dealing with an oblique issue that may keep him out for some time.
And so, in an ironic twist, some of the moves Mozeliak has not made have turned out to be some of his best moves.
Since Mozeliak took over in 2008, St. Louis has won two National League pennants, a World Series title, and six NL Central titles.
They have also reached the postseason a total of 10 times.
