With several weeks having gone by since the end of the St. Louis Cardinals‘ season, speculation for 2023 has been the focal point among several fans.
Much of it has revolved around the fact that for the first time since 2003, Yadier Molina will not be on the team’s roster.
This has left them in the market for a catcher.
In his end of the season press conference, president of baseball operations John Mozeliak stated that acquiring a catcher is one of his top priorities this offseason.
On Twitter, a Cardinals fan proposed an interesting concept.
The fan proposed the idea that the Cardinals should try to target either Danny Jansen or Sean Murphy in their search for a catcher, then potentially trying to sign Carlos Rodon to give themselves an ace.
The more I think about it the more I like the idea of trading for Sean Murphy or Danny Jansen.
Get your catcher then go after Carlos Rodón or maybe the SS market?? #STLCards

Cardinals Fan Proposes Offseason Ideas
These are moves that the Cardinals could potentially make this offseason.
Both Jansen and Murphy are interesting catcher options.
Jansen is probably the more likely option of the two, given that he currently serves as Alejandro Kirk‘s backup in Toronto and that landing Murphy would likely require a decent haul of prospects, which is something that the Cardinals tend to shy away from.
Jansen, 27, hit .260 with 15 home runs and 44 RBI in 2022.
In terms of Rodon, the Cardinals have a fit.
Despite bringing back Adam Wainwright, the team still has a glaring need for an ace.
While Jose Quintana pitched well in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series, they’ll need somebody who can truly be considered an ace.
St. Louis was swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in the Wild Card round.
