Mac Jones has been tasked with a challenging role as he’s been called upon to follow in Tom Brady’s footsteps for the New England Patriots.
Jones’ first two seasons have been somewhat of a rollercoaster, given the team’s record of 16-15 with him as the starter.
They did make the playoffs in his first year but couldn’t make a deep run.
Jones hasn’t made many public statements, which is typical of a Patriots quarterback.
Despite a lack of on-field production, many have discussed Jones’ trash talk, an alleged large part of his game.
Calais Campbell has recently called Jones’ comments “disrespectful,” according to Josh Kendall from The Athletic.
Atlanta DL Calais Campbell, a 16-year vet: "Philip Rivers was a good trash talker, but he was never disrespectful, Mac Jones actually, he was kind of disrespectful. I’m like, ‘Hold on, man.’ (It was) just trash talk to the highest level. It was like, ‘You don’t trash talk me.’"

Campbell said Jones’ comments were “trash talk to the highest level.”
Other players like Philip Rivers and Patrick Mahomes have been called trash-talkers.
However, in the case of Rivers, Campbell said he “was a good trash talker, but he was never disrespectful.”
Apparently, Jones’ comments are not in a similar tier as Rivers, according to Campbell.
For Jones’ sake, it’s probably a good thing he’s not slated to face off against Campbell and the Atlanta Falcons this season.
If he did, Campbell might try extra hard to get to Jones and, perhaps, teach him a lesson or two on the field.
Jones is under immense pressure this season.
His third year in the Patriots system will likely be heavily scrutinized, especially if the team doesn’t make the playoffs.
Bill Belichick is also said to be on the hot seat.
A lot is riding on Jones’ success.
