The odds were certainly not in favor of the New York Mets late on Thursday night when they entered the top of the ninth inning trailing the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 7-1.
They had trailed 7-0 before scratching out a run in the sixth, but things still didn’t look good for the Metropolitans.
But in a matter of minutes, the script had flipped completely.
The Mets went on an absolute hitting spree and scored seven unanswered runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Phillies, 8-7, shocking the Philadelphia crowd in the process.
Buck Showalter took note of his team’s epic comeback and had this to say about their resolve.
Buck Showalter, who said he was trying not to be giddy: "A night like tonight makes you realize what could be."

Buck Approves
Showalter knows what kind of team his Mets can be.
This team is absolutely stacked and winning a ton of ballgames.
They’re playing their best baseball and essentially leaving the rest of the league behind in the dust with their insanely hot start.
But this Mets team may just be different than Mets teams of the past, at least some of the ones they’ve had in recent memory who have started off well but ended up missing the postseason.
The Mets were playing well up until August last year, when they fell out contention, but they were never super dominant, at least not like this Mets ballclub.
Showalter realizes that no matter how late in the game it is and how far behind they are, these Mets can do special things and turn a game on its ear in a matter of minutes.
It all happened so fast, but the Mets managed to pull off an unlikely feat.
Something like this could be the perfect momentum builder for this team.
