Buccaneers Take Home An Impressive Honor Thanks To A Deep Roster

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were rejuvenated when quarterback Tom Brady announced his return.

Without him, it would be impossible to see the Buccaneers as a playoff team.

If he did not return, they would be left with an inexperienced quarterback and their top stars might sign elsewhere.

But when he announced his return, their key players were eager to sign contract extensions.

It’s that star power that gives the Buccaneers the best roster in the NFC according to Pro Football Focus’ Ben Linsey.

After the Buccaneers, Linsey ranks the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, and New Orleans Saints in that order.

Obviously, he considered their rosters on both sides of the ball before jumping to a conclusion.

Under that reasoning, the Buccaneers have elite players on both offense and defense.

Aside from Brady, Tampa Bay re-signed running back Leonard Fournette to a three-year deal.

Chris Godwin also signed a contract with the same tenure which retains the team’s reliable receiving duo with Mike Evans.

Rob Gronkowski might have retired but Cameron Brate is an able replacement for the future Hall of Famer.

Though Ali Marpet retired, their offensive line remains solid with Ryan Jensen, Tristan Wirfs, and Shaq Mason.

The Buccaneers On Defense

While they got rid of Ndamukong Suh and Jason Pierre-Paul, the Tampa Bay defense remains solid with Vita Vea leading the push up front.

Meanwhile, their linebacker unit with Shaquil Barrett, Lavonte David, and Devin White is arguably the best in the league.

They will also get cornerbacks Jamel Dean and Carlton Davis back after missing significant time last season due to their respective injuries.

The Buccaneers’ defense will also benefit from having a defensive-minded head coach in Todd Bowles.

However, having the best roster does not mean that they will represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVII.

That’s why games are played and upsets like what the Rams did to the Buccaneers last season are bound to happen.
