The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced uncertainty at quarterback after Tom Brady‘s retirement.
Kyle Trask was their potential starter, which was not an attractive look for free agents.
That scenario could have forced the likes of Leonard Fournette and Chris Godwin to sign elsewhere.
But after 40 days, Brady ended his retirement, announcing his return for a 23rd NFL season.
After all, there’s no sense in him retiring after a season with over 5,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns.
With Brady back at the helm, Godwin and Fournette signed three-year deals with the team.
Tampa Bay also re-signed Blaine Gabbert to beef up their quarterback depth chart.
Meanwhile, Trask is once again third in the depth chart, but it’s not a cause for concern to Buccaneers quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen.
“It’s Tom Brady we’re talking about here….and Blaine Gabbert is one of the top backs ups in the league…Clyde Christensen said when asked if this is a knock on Kyle Trask’s career that he will be No. 3 again.

Christensen said to Tampa Bay Times reporter Rick Stroud, “It’s Tom Brady we’re talking about here….and Blaine Gabbert is one of the top backups in the league.”
Trask will have his time, but it isn’t now especially after Brady returned.
The 44-year-old quarterback is still Tampa Bay’s best bet.
Meanwhile, Gabbert has experience of being a starter and should be a good second option.
He can still lead the Buccaneers to wins, but the team hopes they won’t resort to that scenario.
Trask Must Take His Time
Brady might not play for long because of his impending deal with FOX Sports as their lead analyst.
There’s no sense agreeing to that role if Brady will play for many more years.
Therefore, Trask must bide his time and learn from the best for now.
Once Brady retires for good, he should be ready to compete for the starting quarterback role.
His patience will pay off and he could become Tampa Bay’s starter.
