That scenario would have been great to continue what could have happened with the New England Patriots.
However, Tom Brady seems to play better as he ages, so Garoppolo was moved to the San Francisco 49ers.
But now that Brady is at the tail end of his career, Sileo revealed that the Buccaneers might be in play.
With Garoppolo, the Buccaneers could still have a decent play-caller to facilitate a talented offense.
However, Buccaneers insider Rick Stroud was quick to shut down Sileo’s information.
Um. Not a chance fellas. As one Bucs coach told me, “If (Garoppolo) could throw a deep ball, he would’ve won two Super Bowls already.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Reportedly Want to Trade for 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo – Sports Illustrated San Francisco 49er https://t.co/URlrHByIhg

Stroud said, “Um. Not a chance fellas. As one Bucs coach told me, ‘If (Garoppolo) could throw a deep ball, he would’ve won two Super Bowls already.'”
That’s a fair assessment from a coach on the team he was allegedly joining.
Garoppolo was talented enough to lead the 49ers to a spot in Super Bowl LIV but lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last season, San Francisco reached the NFC Championship Game but bowed out to the Los Angeles Rams.
Garoppolo’s struggles were evident in that game and things would have been different if he had more talent than Matthew Stafford.
Unfortunately, his career is at a crossroads because the Niners will go with Trey Lance as the quarterback.
If he doesn’t get traded, his $24.2 million salary is a nice consolation for not being able to play.
The Cleveland Browns Could Use Garoppolo
If the Buccaneers are not interested and the Carolina Panthers have acquired Baker Mayfield, perhaps the Browns could gamble on Garoppolo for one year.
That option relies on whether Deshaun Watson gets an indefinite suspension from the NFL.
It’s difficult to see him staying beyond one year if he gets traded to Cleveland.
Still, the Browns will become more competitive with him than Jacoby Brissett.
