Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper is leading the way as his team advances to the World Series and fights for its first title since 2008.
He is 30 years old, in the form of his life, and at the peak of his physical tools and baseball experience and knowledge.
However, this isn’t the first time Harper has been touted as a game-changing talent.
In fact, his baseball talent started to develop as such a precocious age that he has been in magazines, papers, and specialized sites since he was 13.
13!
That’s the kind of pressure he has had to deal with since he was a teenager.
“Bryce Harper was mentioned in the New York Times at the age of 13. The article was about unrealistic baseball dreams at too young an age. He made his MLB debut at 19 years old and just sent his team to the World Series at 30 years old. Be unrealistic,” Jordan Kutzer, the CEO of Throwback Studios, tweeted.

“Be Unrealistic”, But Work For Your Dreams
Indeed, Harper has been a top prospect since he was a teenager, and “unrealistic” expectations have been placed upon him since that age.
Fortunately, he has been able to meet them with his talent and work.
While it’s true that his status may lead to an unrealistic perception for kids growing up and playing the game, it’s also important to teach young, aspiring players to have fun and work to get better.
If they grow up with those two things in mind, they could make a career out of baseball and reach the dreams and goals they set.
It’s important to set objectives and work to achieve them, but if the player doesn’t have fun, it’s not going to be worth it.

I can find no reference to the alleged article in the NYT other than Kutzer’s tweet.
Kinda weird.
