While NFL teams are already wrapping up voluntary OTAs, quarterback Baker Mayfield is still with the Cleveland Browns.
The team placed him on the trading block as soon as they finalized a deal for Deshaun Watson.
However, there have been no takers even after the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks were floated as teams that might acquire the former Oklahoma standout.
Unfortunately, nothing materialized as the Seahawks are going with Drew Lock, Geno Smith, and Jacob Eason on their depth chart.
Meanwhile, the Panthers opted to select Ole Miss’ Matt Corral in round three of the 2022 draft.
With teams practically filling their rosters, a trade for Mayfield looks bleak.
Therefore, there is a strong possibility that he remains with the squad through minicamp.
Yet as The Athletic’s Zac Jackson shared, the Browns would rather not discuss his situation.
Stefanski goes no comment route on Baker Mayfield’s status for next week’s mandatory minicamp.
One of the 3 mandatory minicamp practices will be in Canton and the team will visit the Pro Football HOF.

Mayfield’s Status In Limbo
Stefanski’s response, or the lack of it, means that they are treating Mayfield as not a part of the Browns anymore.
They are still hoping that general manager Andrew Berry can pull off a deal to bring their estranged play-caller elsewhere.
But the Browns might have to bite the bullet for that transaction to happen.
Since they have the asset that no team desires, they might add other players to the pitch.
However, there could be merit in holding on to Mayfield if Watson will serve a lengthy suspension due to his alleged sexual misconduct cases.
While no one knows the verdict on Watson yet, his absence gives Mayfield a chance to compete for the role he once had.
