The AFC of 2022 is the strongest conference the NFL has had in recent memory, and it could turn out to be the strongest conference the league has ever had in its history.
Headlining the conference is the AFC West, which boasts four teams that are all thought to be Super Bowl contenders.
Each team there has an elite or near-elite quarterback as well as at least one Pro Bowl-caliber pass rusher.
Garett Bolles, a left tackle for the Denver Broncos, says that the eventual Super Bowl champion this season will likely come from the AFC West.
“It’s going to be a bloodbath,” said Bolles of the AFC West, “but that’s what you look forward to. … I can tell you this, one of these teams in the AFC West will probably win the Super Bowl because of the caliber of teams we have here.”
The Chargers Could Electrify The Rest Of The Division
For years, the Los Angeles Chargers had often fielded a strong team with one of the best QBs in the game, but they had always found a way to fall short of expectations.
In the last dozen seasons, they have managed to reach the playoffs only twice, and they haven’t been to the AFC Championship Game since the 2007 season.
Many believe this is the year Los Angeles returns to that big stage.
With QB Justin Herbert becoming one of the truly elite at his position, and a defense that has been massively upgraded with the acquisitions of Khalil Mack, J.C. Jackson, and Austin Jackson, the Bolts are now considered real championship contenders.

Health is a concern, as J.C. Jackson, a Pro Bowl cornerback, will miss multiple weeks following ankle surgery, but other than that, the Bolts are ready to shock their competition.
The Raiders Are Hoping For A Return To Glory
The Las Vegas Raiders have always found a way to grab the headlines, but this season, it may be for good reasons.
Quarterback Derek Carr may be a bit short of being a truly elite signal-caller, but Las Vegas seems to have what it needs to win its first division title since 2002.
Denver Is A Contender Again
They have also added Randy Gregory, who will beef up their pass-rushing attack.
Denver doesn’t have the greatest collection of receivers, and one of them, Tim Patrick, won’t play at all this season due to a torn ACL.
But the Broncos still feel that, at worst, they have a puncher’s chance at winning it all.
Kansas City Could Still Be The Chiefs Of The Division
The Kansas City Chiefs, winners of the Super Bowl three seasons ago, have lost star wideout Tyreek Hill, but they still feel great about their chances, and so do many observers.

With Patrick Mahomes still under center, the Chiefs still could have the best chance of winning the toughest division in pro football.
