The magic carpet ride continues for San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback Brock Purdy.
On Thursday, he was named the NFC Offensive Rookie of the Month, which is quite an accomplishment for the last player chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Purdy took over under center in Week 13 when Jimmy Garoppolo, the incumbent starter, injured his foot, and since then, the Iowa State University product has been nothing short of excellent.
In the six games since filling in for Garoppolo, Purdy has put up 1,308 passing yards on a stellar completion rate of 68.3 percent and thrown for 13 touchdowns.
He has tallied at least two touchdown passes in each of those six games, making him the only rookie QB other than the Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert to ever do so.
It’s no coincidence that the 49ers’ offense has taken over since Purdy has been at the controls.
In the first 11 games of the season, they reached the 30-point mark three times with either Garoppolo or Trey Lance at QB1, but with Purdy under center, they have scored at least 30 points five times in six games.
Their increased offensive prowess, combined with the best defense in the NFL, has resulted in a 10-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
Some of the credit should also go to running back Christian McCaffrey, who has also supercharged San Francisco’s offense since arriving via trade in Week 7.
The true test for Purdy will come in the playoffs, which will start Saturday versus the Seattle Seahawks, but if these last six games have been any indication, he shouldn’t have much trouble handling the pressure of the postseason.
