Over the past two decades, the NFL has become a quarterback’s league.
Regardless of how good your defense or your running game are, you need to have a solid QB situation if you want to go the distance in the playoffs.
That has often led front offices to build their team around young QBs, and most of them aren’t wasting any time learning behind veteran gunslingers anymore.
This is why we’re seeing younger players taking snaps every year now, and those good old days with veteran quarterbacks may be a thing of the past now.
As a matter of fact, Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy are set to combine for the youngest age (47 years, 208 days) between starting QBs in a Conference Championship Game in NFL history, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
The future is now in the NFC.

Notably, Patrick Mahomes, 27, is currently the oldest quarterback still in contention this season, which speaks volumes about this new era of young gunslingers.
Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, and Tua Tagovailoa are also set to dominate the league for years to come, and we’re still waiting for Will Levis and Bryce Young to make it to the NFL.
Nostalgia may hit us when we reminisce about the days of Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, and the stars of old.
But it’s the dawn of a new era, and at least we can be quite sure that the league will be in very good hands for the next 15 years or so.
