New York Mets infield prospect Brett Baty had a night to remember on Wednesday, the day he made his MLB debut.
He went 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
That lone hit was a home run, putting an exclamation point on his performance.
The best thing of all is that his team ended up winning a close game against a top rival, the Atlanta Braves.
On the TV broadcast, Baty’s family was spotted celebrating after his home run.
However, the cheers extended to other parts of the country, as well.
“Mets rookie Brett Baty homered in his MLB debut and the baseball team at the high school in Texas he went to absolutely lost its mind,” Jomboy Media tweeted, with a video.

It’s the wholesome content you needed to start your afternoon.
Celebrating Baty’s Success
It’s pretty clear that Baty’s alma mater loves him and celebrates his success in the majors.
A consensus top-50 prospect in baseball, Baty was called up by the Mets to help cope with infielder Luis Guillorme‘s absence.
If his first game as a major leaguer is any indication, the lefty thumper is in for a special career.
He was a smashing success in Double-A this year, knocking 19 balls over the fence in 394 plate appearances, with a strong .312/.406/.544 line.
That earned him a ticket to Triple-A, where he played six games and hit .364.
The Mets liked what they saw and, given their circumstances, decided to call Baty up to see if he could make an impact.
So far, so good.
Let’s hope his high school can keep celebrating for the remainder of the season.
