The Atlanta Braves followed up their improbable run to a World Series title in 2021 with a 101-win season in 2022.
After a tough start, Atlanta overcame a 10.5-game deficit in the National League East division, unseating the New York Mets at the top and claiming their fifth consecutive division title dating back to 2018.
Much of the Braves’ success over the years is thanks in large part to President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Alex Anthopoulos.
This morning, the 45-year-old was named the MLB Executive of the Year by Baseball America.
On Twitter, the Braves congratulated their top executive on his latest honor.

Anthopoulus’ Career Accolades
Born in Montreal, Anthopoulos got his start in professional baseball in 2000 with the Montreal Expos.
He joined the Toronto Blue Jays as a scout in 2003 and worked his way up to the position of president of baseball operations.
Anthopoulos served as vice president of player development for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and 2017 before taking the general manager job with the Braves.
Since taking over, the Braves’ GM and president of baseball operations has led the team to five straight division titles, a World Series title, and two NLCS appearances.
He made several key moves at the 2021 trade deadline after the Braves had lost both Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcell Ozuna for the season.
Anthopoulos brought in Joc Pederson, Eddie Rosario, Jorge Soler, and Adam Duvall, all of whom were key pieces during the team’s World Series run.
He also acquired Matt Olson from the Oakland Athletics prior to the start of the 2022 season.
