When this NBA season began, everyone expected the New Orleans Pelicans to be one of the worst teams in the league.
Sure enough, they had a terrible season in the first few weeks of the season and looked like they had no chance of making the postseason.
Pelicans star Brandon Ingram wasn’t having any of that.
The former All-Star forward has averaged 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists this season and has become a vital part of the up-and-coming squad.
That was very obvious on Tuesday night, as the Pelicans stunned the Phoenix Suns and took them down in Game 2 of the first round.

Ingram has been on a tear since entering the playoffs.
In his first two playoff games, he has scored 55 points, 16 rebounds, and 13 assists.
There is only one player in NBA history who had more in his first two playoff games: Oscar Robertson.
Is Ingram the new leader of the Pelicans?

The Pelicans are still without their biggest star, Zion Williamson.
He hasn’t played a single game this season due to a foot injury.
The loss of Williamson was one of the main reasons why so few people had faith in the Pelicans.
But Ingram and others on the squad have stepped up and shown that there is reason to believe in the team.
After battling it out through the play-in tournament, the Pelicans are playing quite well against the Suns.
There are still many people who don’t think they have what it takes to win the series but there are others who think it is actually possible – especially if Ingram keeps performing like this.
The next game will take place in New Orleans and there is no doubt that Ingram, his team, and their fans will be more fired up than ever before.
