Kansas City Royals‘ Bobby Witt Jr. is breathtakingly good.
He hasn’t even made his major league debut, and he is already the talk of MLB.
It’s just that he is so good and talented that all eyes will be on him when he makes his MLB debut on Thursday: he has already been awarded an Opening Day roster spot.
He is so young that once he hops on the field, he will have broken his first record in franchise history.
“Bobby Witt Jr. (21 years, 297 days) will become the youngest player in team history to make his big debut on Opening Day. Alex Gordon holds that distinction until Thursday. (23 years, 51 days) #Royals,” Royals insider Josh Vernier tweeted on Tuesday.

Alex Gordon is a Royals’ great, one that helped them win their most recent World Series in 2015, so if Witt’s first direct item of comparison is being younger than Gordon when he made his debut, then he is off to a good start.
Witt Is About To Start His Own Journey
Witt is coming from a baseball family, as his father was a former MLB pitcher with several teams.
He grew up around the game, as Witt Sr. was a player agent after he retired.
He passed his passion for baseball to young Bobby, and here we are, a few years later, with his son ready to start a really promising baseball career in the big leagues.
MLB Pipeline’s best prospect, Witt is armed with a powerful swing geared for power, giving him a strong chance to hit .280 with at least 35 home runs at peak.
He is also quick and fast enough to steal more than 25 bases per year.
Last year, between Double-A and Triple-A, he hit 33 round-trippers and stole 29 bags.
His Double-A OPS was .939, and his Triple-A mark was .933: yes, he is ready to be challenged in MLB.
