The Toronto Blue Jays did not make it out of the first round of the 2022 postseason, the Wild Card Games.
They lost to the Seattle Mariners at home, in Rogers Centre, and that signaled the end of their season after some big expectations.
However, far from looking at scapegoats, the organization is thrilled by the progress the team showed during the bigger sample that the regular season represents.
Seeing how he helped transform the team and the overall culture, the franchise rewarded John Schneider, who took over as the skipper for Charlie Montoyo during the season, with a three-year extension with an option for 2026.

He says he is thrilled to stay, and will work to help the franchise reach their goals in the short, medium, and long-term.
Upon taking over for Montoyo, the 42-year-old Schneider showed his managerial talent and helped the Blue Jays go an impressive 46-28 run under his leadership and guidance.
Schneider, in a matter of months, went from bench coach to one of the best young managers in MLB, in a time in which teams often look for fresh ideas from the dugout.
His record speaks for itself, and it helped him build a strong rapport with his players and earn the respect of fans.
Of course the early postseason elimination hurts, but it’s part of the game, and Toronto was competitive.
With a slightly better team (some help in the bullpen would come in handy), he could lead the Jays to big things.
