Blue Jays Get Good News Following Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Injury Scare

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a bit of an injury scare on Wednesday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays star fouled a pitch off of his right foot during their game against the Boston Red Sox.

Guerrero ultimately remained in the game but had to go for X-Rays after the Blue Jays’ 7-1 loss.

Guerrero is not going to be in the lineup today for the Blue Jays in their series finale against the Red Sox as a result.

Fortunately for Toronto, the X-Rays on Guerrero’s foot came back negative.

However, manager Charlie Montoyo says that Guerrero is still “really sore,” which is why he is getting today off.

How he responds to pregame treatment will determine his availability for the game.

X-rays on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.‘s right foot last night returned negative, per Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo. But Guerrero is still “really sore” today, hence the day off.

It’s possible Guerrero could pinch hit depending on how he responds to pre-game treatment.

Jays Catch A Break

This is good news for the Blue Jays, but everything still depends on how he feels after his pregame treatment.

If his foot is still sore, he’s not exactly out of the woods just yet.

But as of right now, things are looking good for the Blue Jays in that regard.

Any time without their slugger would be a huge blow for Toronto, a team that is off to a solid start in 2022.

The 23-year-old is hitting .309 with five homers, 13 RBIs, and a .939 OPS in his first 68 at-bats of the 2022 regular season.

Again, everything depends on how well he responds to the treatment he received today.

If he responds well, he could be available to pinch hit later in the game.

Gosuke Katoh got the start at first base for Toronto in their series finale against Boston.
