The Buffalo Bills will be opening the 2022 NFL season on the road against the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
As early as Week 1, that matchup is billed as a potential Super Bowl LVII preview.
After all, the Rams have retained the core that helped them win the franchise’s second Super Bowl title.
Meanwhile, the Bills have the firepower and talent on both sides of the ball to match the Rams in every step.
While it’s too early to tell if the Bills will make it to the big game, being a legitimate contender was unheard of for the squad five years ago.
Everything changed when Sean McDermott took over as head coach and Brandon Beane became their general manager.
In a 5 year span the #Bills went from a laughingstock & playoff drought, to being the Super Bowl odds favorite playing on opening night against the defending Super Bowl champs in their house & being favored

The tweet reads, “In a 5-year span, the #Bills went from a laughingstock & playoff drought to being the Super Bowl odds favorite playing on opening night against the defending Super Bowl champs in their house & being favored. This is a Sean McDermott & Brandon Beane tweet. #BillsMafia #GoBills.”
Before McDermott and Beane took over, the Bills last entered the playoffs during the 1999 season.
Unfortunately, they lost to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card Round, 22-16, in the game dubbed the “Music City Miracle.”
From 2000 to 2016, the Bills only had two winning seasons, both 9-7 marks.
The Bills Drafted Well
Aside from developing their players, Beane found the right guys.
In 2017, they selected cornerback Tre’Davious White in the first round and offensive guard Dion Dawkins in the second round.
They also took linebacker Matt Milano in round five.
A year later, they took Josh Allen as the seventh overall selection, three spots in front of Josh Rosen.
They also drafted linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in 2018.
In 2019, they found running back Devin Singletary and tight end Dawson Knox.
In 2020, they selected running back Zack Moss and wide receiver Gabriel Davis.
Last season, the Bills took defensive ends Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham Jr.
