Not many teams have been through such a quick turnaround as the Cincinnati Bengals.
They were a mediocre team through most of Andy Dalton‘s tenure behind center, and the transition from that to Joe Burrow wasn’t particularly smooth.
People doubted whether Zac Taylor was the right guy for the job in his first year with the team, and Burrow missing half of his rookie campaign with a season-ending injury didn’t bode well for the future.
Fast forward to today, and the Bengals are making a strong case for being considered the biggest powerhouse in the AFC.
Perhaps the only thing standing between them and that distinction is the fact that they need to go against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nonetheless, that hasn’t been much of a problem for the LSU product, who’s 3-0 in his career against Mahomes.
That’s why some Bengals players have gone as far as to rename Arrowhead Stadium as “Burrowhead Stadium,” mocking their rivals and praising their QB’s dominance over Mahomes, according to NFL insider Dov Kleiman.

As of now, the Bengals are one-point favorites over the Chiefs ahead of that road game, mostly also due to Mahomes’ high-ankle sprain and potential limitations during the game.
This is actually the first time that the Chiefs are underdogs in the playoffs since Mahomes took over as a starter, so there will be plenty of weight on Burrow’s shoulders come Sunday.
Then again, regardless of that 3-0 record, maybe poking Mahomes isn’t the best strategy Bengals players could think of.
