Baker Mayfield is in a fascinating position with the Cleveland Browns.
All the talk surrounding him entering the season was whether he would land a massive contract extension.
He did not, and if one was on the table, he probably should have taken the offer.
Mayfield, like the Browns in general, has been extremely hot and cold this season.
Part of the problem is that he suffered a torn labrum and has been playing through an ongoing list of injuries.
But if he is playing, he is expected to do well.
Sunday was his worst game with the team as he finished with 73 yards on 21 attempts before leaving the game with a knee injury.
An update on his status was given Monday afternoon.
#Browns Kevin Stefanski said Baker Mayfield is day to day with a knee injury but he feels good about where he's at.

Mayfield’s knee may not hold him out Sunday, but it just adds to the list of problems he is facing.
Baker Mayfield, by his own admission, is super “banged up” right now (knee, foot, shoulder). He was walking very gingerly to and from the postgame podium. Will be interesting to see how much he’s able to practice this week. #Browns

A Lucky Break On The Schedule
The Browns are now 5-5 after suffering one of the worst losses the franchise has seen since returning in 1999.
Luckily, the Detroit Lions are next up on the schedule.
This allows Mayfield and the entire roster to get back on track.
Of course, a loss would start talks of finding a new quarterback and making major changes.
That is just the way the news cycle goes in Cleveland.
Browns fans remember Mayfield as the rookie who set a record with 27 touchdowns back in 2018.
He is at a total of nine this season and Sunday’s game in New England seemed to prove Odell Beckham Jr. to have a point in why he wanted out.
The injuries are surely not helping.
However, this is not the step forward fans expected after Mayfield helped lead the team to the postseason last year.
If his knee injury does not hold him out, he must have a big game against Detroit.
If he cannot do that, talks of an extension will die down fast.
