Throughout the course of the years, Team USA has usually featured nothing but the cream of the crop in terms of NBA talents.
This time isn’t the exception to the rule, although they’ve chosen to go with a younger team to kind of make the transition to a new era.
That’s why there are no perennial All-Stars this time around, but they have some of the most promising players in the game trying to make a name for themselves.
With that in mind, Los Angeles Lakers star guard Austin Reaves tipped his cap to Anthony Edwards, praising him as one of the guys he was looking forward to teaming up with the most, via SI.
When asked about whether Edwards could be in the MVP conversation next season, the Arkansas product didn’t hesitate to claim that he wouldn’t be shocked if that were to be the case.
Notably, Edwards took a massive leap forward last season, willing the inconsistent and often-injured Minnesota Timberwolves to the playoffs and even taking one game away from the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets.
Edwards has already embraced his role as the on-court leader of the team, and his talent is simply outstanding.
He can jump through the roof, score from all three levels, and is taking pride in also becoming a good defender.
Edwards is the kind of relentless competitor that’s always looking to one-up himself and every single rival he faces, and it shouldn’t be long before we see his name in the MVP voting ballot.
