The World Series is set to begin on Friday night with the Houston Astros playing host to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Once again, the Astros find themselves at the top of the American League, having reached their fourth World Series since 2017, while the Phillies prepare for their first taste of the Fall Classic since 2009.
The Astros have been here before and have turned themselves into a postseason powerhouse after several years of being the laughingstocks of baseball.
Since the start of the 2015 postseason, the Astros have tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers with 86 wins.
Just one win in the World Series will put them ahead of Los Angeles.
Most playoff games since the start of the 2015 season:
1t. Astros 86
1t. Dodgers 86
3. Yankees 45
4. Braves 41
5. Cubs 39— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) October 25, 2022
Astros Set To Do Damage In World Series
The Astros are no strangers to the Fall Classic.
They’ve been the best team in baseball since 2017.
The sign stealing scandal may have fans of opposing teams frustrated, especially the Dodgers.
But even so, the Astros have simply been a force to be reckoned with in the postseason.
This is their fourth World Series in the last six years.
No team has won more games than them in the postseason since 2015.
Of course, a Phillies sweep will keep them tied with the Dodgers.
But all it takes now is one win to officially pass Los Angeles in that category.
Regardless of the sign stealing scandal, it simply cannot be denied that the Astros are a completely different team in October and have turned themselves into a model franchise.
Four more wins will give them another title.
Can they secure their second championship, or will the Phillies pull off an upset?
