Prior to the start of the ALCS, New York Yankees fans were getting ready for a matchup with the now-World Series champion Houston Astros.
Yankees fans have been galvanized by their hatred of the Astros ever since news broke of their sign-stealing scandal from 2017.
And so, Yankees fans began chanting: “We want Houston!”
The Astros proceeded to steamroll them in the ALCS.
Fans of the Philadelphia Phillies clearly hadn’t learned from Yankees fans’ mistakes and promptly began chanting “We want Houston” after the Phils clinched the NL pennant.
Once again, the Astros emerged victorious.
Today, at the World Series parade, several Astros fans could be heard mocking the chant performed by Yankees and Phillies fans.
“We want Houston!” chants have already started before the Astros World Series parade 👀

“We Want Houston!”
It’s clear that Astros fans have not forgotten about their opponents wanting Houston.
As Martin Maldonado said after the ALCS, they asked for Houston and that’s exactly what they got.
So now, the question for fans of any other team is: Do you really want Houston?
Based on what happened this October, the answer would probably be no, realistically speaking of course.
But it’s clear that Astros fans are still having fun with this and enjoying the fact that their team gave opposing fans exactly what they wanted, that being Houston.
Until the Astros are unseated, their fans will continue to take pleasure in mocking the “We want Houston” chant.
Both Yankees and Phillies fans were openly and brazenly hoping for a matchup with the Astros.
The moral of the story?
Be careful what you wish for.
